Relationships on Female First

Between ghosting, benching, fleabagging and cuffing – singletons are no strangers to dating trends. But apparently, married couples are ready to re-enter the dating spotlight with a trend of their own. Acceptable cheating.

Forget Tinder and Bumble, Illicit Encounters is a dating platform for married couples looking for extra-marital affairs. Just when we thought online dating had reached its full potential, Illicit Encounters revealed some shocking news. Over a quarter of married couples are okay with their partner cheating. In fact, people are now encouraging extra-marital affairs – especially, women.

Jessica Leoni, a sex and relationship expert, said that marriage and commitment is outdated in our society. Relationships should not restrict us. They should challenge our traditional views and reshape what we consider to be socially acceptable.

It is no secret that cheating has been around since the invention of relationships. Some might say, Eve invented cheating the moment she took a bite out of that godforsaken apple. We like shortcuts, rebellious moments and sometimes a cheeky sneak-peek at our new co-worker.

It is the secretive and dangerous allure of cheating that makes it so sexy. Whether you want to explore a new side of your sexuality or chase a long lost love – cheating always comes hand in hand with secrecy.

So if we put cheating out in the open, will it still have its sex appeal?

Diana, a current member of Illicit Encounters, said that cheating actually made her marriage sexier. After seventeen years together, Diana and her husband admitted their relationship was missing desire and passion. So they changed their marriage and welcomed cheating with open arms.

Of course, there are rules to every open relationship. For Diana and her husband, they decided not to share any intimate details and to carry on with their marital life as normal. As a result, the couple felt closer and more in touch with each other’s deepest desires than ever before.

Cheating has always been known as the number one sin of relationships. Now, couples are cheating to save their marriages and sex lives. For some, an extra-marital affair is the final chance to restore communication and passion with their partner.

Singleton dating trends are light-hearted and fun. When we are ghosted by one player, we swipe to the next. However, the marriage field is riddled with commitment hurdles and there are often a lot more players involved. The stakes are higher in marriage and cheating is the ultimate curve ball.

Initially, making cheating acceptable seems liberating. You can have a loving marital partner and new sexual fantasy fulfilled every week. It’s 2020 and you truly can have it all when it comes to sex.

Monogamy, commitment and love may be outdated. Polyamorous relationships may be on the rise. Cheating may even be socially acceptable, now.

But marriage is not a dating trend. It is a permanent commitment.

Marriage trends will come and go, but will your relationship survive making cheating okay? I don’t think so.
