A survey into the sexual behaviour of Britons asked nearly 3,000 coupled-up lovers about their fidelity habits.
The results show the hot spots for bed-hopping, uncovering the percentage of people who have cheated on their partner and naming Liverpudlians the top cheaters in the country:
The Love Rat League Table
1. Liverpool – 52%
2. London – 48%
3. Bristol – 44%
4. Aberdeen – 41%
5. Southampton – 37%
6. Newcastle – 36%
7. Brighton – 33%
8. Manchester – 32%
9. Colchester – 24%
10. Cardiff – 22%
Sarah Bailey from UKMedix.com, who conducted the research, said: 'It’s concerning that so many people consider fidelity as central to the success of their relationships, but still go on to cheat on their significant others.'
The revelations don't stop there; more than two thirds of cheating partners admitted to having done so more than once, with one in ten confessing they've cheated 'more time than I can remember.'
As for their other-halves, over 60% of partners have no idea of their spouses betrayal. Only 27% of love rats confess after being unfaithful.
Sarah continued to say: 'It would be easy to assume this must mean they don’t care about their partners, but many claim to love them and see a future with them. It’s obviously just not been enough to prevent them from falling into the trap of temptation... and more than once for a lot of our cheating participants!'
There's still some hope for Cupid though, only 2% of participants classed fidelity to be 'not important at all.' Four out of five love rats claim to still love their partners with three quarters saying they would like to have a future with them.
But is this enough to repair the damage caused by temptation?
