Women who are over 30 are more likely to have sex on a first date, whilst women aged 24-27 tend to wait until the third date.

A newly launched double dating website conducted a study with 1,171 single women across the UK; all of the respondents to the study were aged 20 or over. As a newly launched business, the survey was conducted in a bid to get a better understanding of the attitudes single women have towards online dating and the pressures of dating.
The study, conducted by www.datewithamate.com, initially asked the respondents if they had ever taken part in online dating, to which almost half, 46%, answered ‘yes’. Furthermore, the research found that 36% of the respondents ‘regularly’ dated new people.
In a bid to investigate the topic further, the respondents to the study were asked what stage of the relationship they had sex for the first time.
The respondents aged over 30 were more likely to have sex on the first date, with a third, 34%, of the respondents in this age bracket saying that they would be intimate on the first date; compared to 14% of the respondents aged 20 - 23 and 12% of the respondents aged 24- 27. In terms of those aged 28-30, 27% of respondents in this age bracket admitted they would have sex on a first date.
Similarly, the study found that the respondents aged over 30 were more likely to have sex on the second date when compared to the younger respondents. 42% of the respondents aged over 30 stated that they would be intimate on a second date, whilst a fewer 38% of the women aged 20 - 23 said they would have sex on a second date. 29% of the women aged 24 - 27 said they would sleep with a date the second time they met.
The majority of the respondents that were aged 24 - 27 would wait for the third date before being intimate, with more than half, 53%, stating that the third date is when they would have sex with their date for the first time.
Almost three quarters, 74%, of the total number of respondents stated that sex was an ‘important’ part of a relationship, whilst 7% thought it ‘definitely wasn’t’. The remaining 19% of the respondents said that it ‘depended on the relationship’ as to whether sex was important.
The study found that almost a quarter, 24%, of the respondents stated that they had had a ‘one night stand’ whilst on the dating scene.
Of the total number of respondents polled, a fifth, 18%, said that they had at least one friend who had met their partner online; and 86% stated that they felt ‘hopeful’ that they would meet their life partner ‘soon’.
Luke Pomaro, the founder of datewithamate.com, said the following about the findings:
“We wanted to conduct this research in order to get a better understanding of women who use online dating. It was interesting to discover that so many of the respondents have used online dating, however it is a growing industry and a great method to meet new people who are interested in starting a new romantic relationship.”
He continued:
“Sleeping with someone on a first date is a completely personal decision and down to the two people who are on the date. Everybody has different views on ‘dating etiquette’ and ultimately it is an individual choice. The only thing we would advise is that people are safe on dates and always take responsible precautions.”
