Being in a Relationship Improves all Aspects of Life

Although it’s certainly a lot of fun to be young, free and single, there are certainly benefits that come with being in a relationship.

Not only are the obvious benefits of having company and passion a plus point but new research from Match.com shows that those in a relationship even enjoy their job more.

The research comes from Match.com’s LoveGeist report which tracks the nations changing attitudes to dating and relationships.

This year, it found that 93 per cent of single are hoping for a long-term relationship in the future and that 23 per cent would even change where they lived in order to be in a happy relationship.

This may be because 40 per cent of those in a relationship feel they a financially stable compared to only 32 per cent of singles.

Other perks of being in a relationship are feeling much more confident with your job. A massive 63 per cent of those in a relationship said that they were happy with their work performance compared to 31 per cent of singles.

The report found that being in a relationship can even change the way you feel about your appearance.

Only 34 per cent of singles are confident about their body shape and appearance compared to 37 per cent of those in a relationship.

Even getting along with your family is easier in a relationship! Over 80 per cent of those in a relationship were happy with their family relationships compared to 72 per cent of singles.

Kate Taylor, resident relationship expert at match.com, said, “The government’s Happiness Index shows that Britain’s singles have a lower than average ‘wellbeing’ score than those who are married or in long-term relationships, something that certainly tallies with match.com research.

“With everyone leading such busy and stressful lives it’s no wonder that finding a partner can sometimes take a back seat, however perhaps Brits need to consider their priorities and look towards dating to boost their happiness in these uncertain times.”
