Those who use online dating sites have been found to be nearly four times as likely to sleep with someone on a first date as those who don’t use dating sites.

The research was conducted by dating site Sugardaddie.com, a site that caters for attractive women looking to date older, wealthy men.
A large 67 per cent of those who used dating sites said that they are much more likely to sleep with someone they met via a dating site rather than someone they met via ‘normal’ channels.
Compare that to the 17 per cent of people who don’t use dating sites saying they would sleep with someone on the first date and you could say there is concrete evidence that online dating leads to loose morals.
Steven Pasternack, Director of Sugardaddie.com, feels differently. He believes that it’s because you’ve already established a connection when online dating.
He said, “Possibly the reason for the high number of online daters willing to engage in sexual activity on the first date is that they’ve already been seduced before they meet.
“You know where you are with online dating so you avoid any embarrassing misinterpretations or conflicts with what you both want. Not to mention you don’t have the inconvenience and anxiety of trawling through all the local hotspots.”
Respondents also said that when having a first date, if you’ve met the person online first then it isn’t strictly speaking a real first date as you’ve already got to know each other.
One respondent said that they prefer online dating because you can reach a level of intimacy with someone more effectively than you can on a first date.
They said, “Online encounters can venture into a level of intimacy that neither of us would dare to reach during a face-to-face meeting.”
Despite the findings, there was a unanimous decision that having sex on a first date is a relationship killer.
Both those who used online dating and those who didn’t said that jumping into bed with someone on the first date spelled lust rather than love, meaning if you want a lasting relationship then sleeping with someone straight away is out of the question.
One site member said, “A good relationship is about being honest about your feelings and such feelings cannot be built in barely the time it takes to enjoy a 3-course meal.”
