How to: Spot a serial dater

Taylor Swift has been in the news recently for breaking up with Harry Styles after only a short few months of dating.

We wouldn’t like to call her a serial dater, but she’s coming pretty close! And Harry Styles is no different, having being linked to many women over the past few months.

If you’ve never experienced a serial dater before then here’s what their game plan is; they love the thrill of a new date and can’t get enough of that feeling.

They’re eager to meet you, and move through the first few dates quickly and then they drop you and move onto the next.

Hurtful, right? Well here’s how to spot a serial dater and save your heart getting broken.

Take it Slow

Serial daters will want to move fast. They’ll want the second date to come round really quickly after the first and try and cram in as much time with you as possible.

Take it slow, wait a week between dates, if they really want to see you again then they’ll wait the week, if they really push for it to be sooner, then you’ll know where they stand.

Hold off on Intimacy

A serial dater will always try to ‘get the goods’ as quick as possible. They enjoy the chase but ultimately they’re there for one reason and one reason only.

Once you’ve given up sex, they’ll see it as they got what they came for and move on without a thought, so save your heartbreak and wait it out!

Body Language

Body Language says a lot about someone. Watch how your date acts when you first meet, if they are truly focused on you then you know they have a genuine interest.

If they have wondering eyes or are overly concerned about what others are doing or thinking about them then it’s clear to see that their mind is elsewhere.

Small Talk

Are they avoiding talking about more deep topics? Sticking to small talk? This again shows they have little interest in what makes you tick.

Try talking about your genuine interests and if your date switches off, or changes the subject then you know they hold little interest in you.

Lastly…

Not every date will be a serial dater, but it’s good to keep your whit’s about yourself and be prepared in case you do run into one and save getting your feelings hurt!
