Not only are you worrying about how you look, what to wear, where to meet but once the date has started you’ve got to repress all those flustered feelings and come across natural and relaxed.

To make things a little easier Relationship Expert Susan Quilliam and Halls XS have put together the 10 dating commandments.

The 10 Dating Commandments

1. Recognise your physical reactions to the forthcoming social situation and take control; take a long, slow deep breath in, then let it go completely, along with your nerves.  A menthol sweet, such as Halls XS can help you feel invigorated and will occupy your physical symptoms of nervousness.

2. Neutralise uncoordinated body wobbles by balancing your weight evenly between both feet, for instance, if you're wearing heels, lean forward slightly to keep stability.

3. Don’t over-analyse. Give only a second to check out or perfect your whole image. Go for just one element that matters most to you, such as straightening your tie or flicking your hair back.

4. Prime your brain for success by thinking back to a time when you made a really good impression, a time when you've been the best you can be.

5. Repeat your date's name softly to yourself, not only to avoid forgetting it because you're nervous, but also to help you focus entirely on them.

6. When you first see your date, as you walk towards them, spot something lovely - their eyes, their figure, the way they're dressed.

7. If your feelings leave you tongue-tied, let go of the tension and make speaking easier by circling your tongue and imagining you are yawning - all with your mouth closed, of course!

8. Smiling triggers feel-good endorphins in your brain. So give your full smile, not only to welcome your date but to boost yourself.

9. Distract yourself from uncomfortable feelings by making your date the centre of your attention - full eye contact, total concentration on what they're saying.

10. Counteract fears of failure by looking ahead to the end of the date and imagining your excitement when it's gone superbly well.
