Lisa asks :

Hi Lucy,

My best friend is a man and every time I have wine or feel tipsy I try to have sex with him. He says he would see me but I always become very evasive afterwards which then frustrates him. I do like him but why only when I'm drunk do I feel like this?

It sounds like you use alcohol as a confidence booster and perhaps feel like you can only make a move when you have a bit of courage from drink to show him how you really feel.

It might be that you are evasive afterwards because you are embarrassed or shy towards him knowing what you did with a drink inside you.

If you do really like him then perhaps try spending some time with him minus the alcohol, so he can learn that it's not the drink talking- but you.

If you can explain to him why you are evasive afterwards, then he might not be so frustrated. If he knows that it's more of a defence mechanism than you deliberately going out of your way to be frustrating, he might be willing to work with you to combat this habit.

He has admitted that he would see you if it were not for that side of things. If you really like him as much as you say you do, if you can try and stop yourself from using this move as a safety net, then he might be willing to take things further.
