Pene asks :

Hi Lucy,

I’m 59 years old and am seeing a toy boy who is 31 years my junior. We love each other very much. Is this wrong to be in a relationship with this age gap?

There is nothing wrong with an age gap if you do truly love each other. Many people maintain successful relationships with a significant age gap, so there is no reason to say you can't. Loving one another is a very strong basis for any relationship, as long as you always have this then you might be able to get through anything.

People will have their opinions, some will be alright with it, others might express their disagreement of it. You are not responsible for their reaction to your relationship- it's their problem- not yours. As long as you remember this, then it will help you to let any negativity wash over you.

As is the same for any relationship, as long as you agree on your future goals, then you have a lot of the tools already in place.

Ultimately, whatever relationship you are in- as long as that person makes you happier than you ever thought possible; the age gap is irrelevant.
