Khloe asks :

Hi Lucy,

I had unprotected sex last Tuesday with my first and only daughter’s father. Since I have had slight cramps and very sore and tender growing breasts I can't help but think this is early signs of pregnancy! Help?

The symptoms you are displaying could be signs of pregnancy- yes. After conception the fertilised egg attaches itself to the wall of the uterus which can cause spotting and cramping. This can be mistaken for coming on your period because the pain is very similar to menstrual cramps- they should only be slight. Many women believe this to be the start of their period.

Another early sign of pregnancy is breast tenderness, they may feel fuller or heavier than normal and the area around your nipple might get darker and bigger. This is all due to the higher levels of progesterone in the body and because it stores more water during pregnancy.

If you are unsure then take a pregnancy test as both of these symptoms can be related to pregnancy and menstruation, but to put your mind at ease it's best to check it out so you know either way.
