Each year there is an ever increasing amount of so called remakes being released in the cinema.
While some feel that its having a negative impact on the amount of original stories making it to the big screen there is no doubt that the studios are in favour of the garanteed awarness and audience a remake can deliver.
In recent years we have seen a boom of comic books being made in to hugely successful movie franchises such as Iron Man and The Hulk, the Gaming market has also found a home in film with Lara Croft Tomb Raider and Prince Of Persia both of which are based on hugely successful video games.
In 2011 there will also be four remakes of some of the most popular cartoons from your childhood, revampt and brought to the big screen for a whole new generation of kids to enjoy.

The Smurfs - Released 3 August 2011
Set in the Middle Ages, the evil wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) discovers the Smurf's village and chases them into some woods.
The Smurfs get scattered and Clumsy Smurf (voiced by Anton Yelchin) wonders into a "forbidden" grotto and some of the other Smurfs follow.
Since it's also a blue moon, a magical portal within the grotto transports them into Central Park in New York.
They take shelter with a married couple (Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays) and try to find a way back to their village before Gargamel finds them.
The Adventures Of Tintin: Secret Of The Unicorn - Released 26 October 2011
"The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn" is the first in the series of 3D motion capture films based on the iconic character created by Georges Remi, better known to the world by his pen name "Herge" and is due for release in 2011.
The film stars Jamie Bell as Tintin, the intrepid young reporter whose relentless pursuit of a good story thrusts him into a world of high adventure, and Daniel Craig as the nefarious Red Rackham.
Bell and Craig are joined by an international cast that includes Andy Serkis, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Gad Elmaleh, Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook.
