"A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference"

Consider the day your partner has experienced and what they've had on their plate lately- then act accordingly. This could be anything from making them a cup of tea or an evening meal, to letting them offload to you or even doing one of their regular jobs at home to ease their burden.

"If the string breaks, try another piece of string"

If something you try to together doesn't work, try something else. If you don't secure that house, there will be another, if you can't conceive this month, there's always next month or if you can't afford something now, in a few weeks you will have more money than you do now- just be patient.

"The most important thing is, even if we're apart, I'll always be with you"

When you are at work, working away, or out with friends or family- you always have each other for support- you are just a phone call away from hearing each other's voice, a picture or Skype away from seeing their face and a text away from knowing they're thinking of you and vice versa.

"It isn't much good having anything exciting, if you can't share it with somebody"

You can have everything money can buy and still feel like you're missing something because there is no one there to enjoy it with you. Material possessions and money isn't everything- loving someone and sharing experiences with them is what brings true happiness.

"Rivers know this: there is no hurry. We shall get there some day"

There is no rush to keep up with your friends and those around you- go at your own pace and do things when they feel right for you- from saying 'I love you', to moving in together, getting engaged, or married, having children or whatever it is you want from your future together.

"Never let things come to you, go out and fetch them"

Your relationship doesn't look after itself, you have to put in the effort in order for it to run smoothly. Sometimes you have to go further afield in order to make this work- that could mean travelling far to see your partner or going on a journey on their behalf.

"You can't stay in your corner of the Forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes"

If you need help from your partner- don't keep quiet- tell them you need their support- they may not be able to see that you're struggling. Similarly, if you have an inkling that your partner needs you- you might have to be the one to instigate the conversation if they're too afraid to ask.

"Love is taking a few steps backward, maybe even more… to give way to the happiness of the person you love"

Love is about compromise and you have to make small sacrifices along the way in order to do what's best for you both and not just one of you. You may have to take a few steps back at first but together you will take far more going forward.

"It's best to know what you're looking for before you look for it"

Be honest with each other about what you want from the future or you could be headed in different directions and before you know it- you're too far apart to come back to each other again.

"If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you"

If you feel like you can't live without the person you're with, you've found the one.

The research was conducted to mark the 90th anniversary of Winnie the Pooh.
