Jack (Clive Hornby) showers Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) with presents on her birthday and that night they head to the casino. However, she's taken aback by Billy (David Crellin) and Val's (Charlie Hardwick) presence and becomes prickly around him. Billy steals himself away from the gambling and gives Diane a Dusty Springfield CD. She's touched by his thoughtfulness but they're interrupted by a drunken Val. The foursome head home and Billy and Diane are left talking in the Woolpack. When she reflects on her life so far, Billy remarks that her life is full of choices still to make. Does Billy's hint carry a deeper meaning?Elsewhere, Bob (Tony Audenshaw) and Viv's (Deena Payne) are overexcited about seeing Duke (Dicken Ashworth) on television but Terry (Billy Hartman) warns them when they suggest he makes contact. Unfortunately Val reignites the subject in the Woolpack and this encourages Bob to probe further. Terry admits his dad doesn't know about TJ (Connor Lee) and he has no reason to tell him. Can Bob make a breakthrough as a fellow grandparent? Also, Louise (Emily Symons) is anxious when she wakes up next to Jamie (Alex Carter). He insists they've done nothing wrong but Louise worries about local gossip. A sudden shout from Terry jolts Louise and she shoves Jamie in the wardrobe to hide. Later, Louise is horrified to discover Jamie hasn't left and he comes downstairs in a pair of her tracksuit bottoms. He manages to explain himself to Terry and decides to stay with Louise after his shift. Things soon turn passionate again and the pair head upstairs once more.
