Sky has recently revealed the trailer for Original series Gomorrah, which is entering its fifth and final season later this year (2021). The cult drama follows the organised crime clans that operate in the poverty-filled city of Naples in Italy.

The series shows us the dark and dangerous criminal underbelly of Naples, as families battle one another for the right of power; as the city changes rapidly, so must those who wish to control it.

Gomorrah’s final season is filmed in both Naples and Riga (Latvia), with Marco D’Amore directing episodes one to five, and Claudio Cupellini directing the remaining episodes.

In the upcoming final season, we see the return of protagonist Salvatore Esposito reprising his iconic role as Genny Savastano, a character who was forced into hiding within a bunker at the end of the previous season.

Arturo Muselli also stars in the upcoming season as Enzo Sangue Blu, and Ivana Lotito is back to play Azzurra Avitabile, Genny’s wife. Marco D'Amore once again stars as Ciro Di Marzio.

The cult drama has had some brilliant moments in previous seasons, and many fans will be wondering if the show can, once again, leave them sitting on the edge of their seats.

Produced by Cattleya (part of ITV studios), the fifth season opens with a police hunt for Genny, Ciro, as well as unnamed characters who are ready for the inevitable: a clan war. This war is definitely going to be iconic, and will allow the show to go out with a bang.

Fans of Gomorrah, the most famous Italian series in the world, will be shown how the feud between the Levantes and Patrizia has turned the city of Naples into a battlefield, trying to get Genny to leave his life of relaxation and return to action.

The authorities are napping at Genny’s heels, and his only ally is the shadowy crime boss of Ponticelli. War is inevitable, and in the midst of preparations for a gruesome battle, Genny makes a discovery that will change his life forever...

The trailer gives us a very brief look at the upcoming season, and with a tense, focused atmosphere, this final seaosn could be the best one yet.

The fifth and final series of Gomorrah will be available to watch on Sky Atlantic and NOW later this year (2021).
