The former 'The Only Way is Essex’ star woke up in a cold sweat after stirring in the middle of the night in the buff - after going to sleep with clothes on - next to his ‘Coronation Street’ star wife, 36, and was worried in case a spirit had come in for “a little slap and tickle”.

Mark, also 36, is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "Do you think it would be classed as cheating… having a little slap and tickle with a ghost? I didn’t see one… unless I slept through it."

Mark - despite the fear he had committed supernatural infidelity - described Chillingham Castle “a beautiful place” but admitted he was “scared” of the Northumberland manor’s reputation as one of the most haunted spots in the country when they filmed their BBC programme, ‘A Wright Family Holiday’ there.

He said: "It’s a beautiful place, but I’m scared of ghosts. I’d prefer not to meet them."

The ex ‘I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here’ star previously admitted that his anxiety about ghosts hit him in his own home after a horror movie marathon.

Mark told Woman’s Own magazine: "I'm the man of the house so if something happens she just goes to sleep and I'm the one lying thinking, 'Is that the ghost from that film in this room?'"

Recently, the former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ star shared how the death of his uncle Eddie after he tested positive for COVID-19 led him and his brother Josh, 33 - who also has sister Jessica, 37, - to prioritise spending more time with their father Mark Snr, 65, after he “was really, really sick” with the virus.

Mark told The Sun newspaper: “I first had the conversation about making this during lockdown – just after my dad was really, really sick with Covid and lost his brother to Covid.

“He thought about end of life at that point. He slowed down and lost that buzz he normally has.”

“I didn’t realise we were going to air the things we did – my dad bottles things up and my brother reveals things about how he’s been struggling and that was a first for him. It was a very moving moment for all of us.”
