The former ‘Weird Weekends’ documentarian, 53, admitted how “surprising” it is he is left underwhelmed when snagging trophies at ceremonies including the Baftas, and said he struggles to get “pleasure” from the victories.

Louis told Annie Macmanus, 44, on her ‘The Changes With Annie Macmanus’ podcast: “I’ve won a few BAFTAs in my time, and it’s surprising how in the moment you don’t feel thrilled.

“You feel a bit disconnected from it, and some part of me sort of short-circuits pleasure.”

Louis, who has sons Albert, 16, Frederick, 14, and Walter, eight, with his wife Nancy Strang, 53, called doing his job “the real pleasure” and not scooping up accolades – as he finds them “weird”.

He added: “There are times I feel very happy when work is going well, or I’ve filmed something or edited something… the work is the real pleasure.

“There’s something a bit weird about awards in general.”

Recently, the ‘My Scientology Movie’ star showed off how his alopecia “of the beard” gives him “a weird little Hitler moustache” if he forgets to pick up the razor, and reassured fans he wasn’t trying to imitate the dictator’s look.

Louis captioned a selfie on Instagram: “Nature has played a cruel trick on me. Thanks to my alopecia barbae (“of the beard”) I can now only grow a weird little Hitler moustache.”

It came after Louis took to his socials in January to speculate he “probably” had the long-term hair loss problem and how it was impacting his beard-growing prospects.

He captioned a series of self-portraits: “So this is what my beard grows like now due to what I think is probably alopecia.

“Basically, I get a little triangle of stubble around my mouth and some more at the sides.

“It’s not a big deal, but I don’t want people to think I’m doing something creative with my facial hair and doing it badly, when it’s just what I look like when I don’t shave.

“This is also why I don’t wear a beard as much anymore. Maybe it’ll grow back. Who knows?”
