Dexter

Dexter

Dexter Morgan, a man with a deadly secret and the usual picture of self-control, prides himself on emotional detachment.  However over the last two seasons, Dexter has had to face a slew of newfound sentiments from the trauma of killing his brother to assisting in his own murder investigation.

Now in its third season, we see Dexter embrace more 'human' activities, and even partially understand why he does what he does; kills people.

For the blood spatter analyst by day, principled serial killer by night, things seem to be looking up. Dexter’s relationship with Rita is back on track.

He escaped several murder convictions. Lilah and Doakes are no longer inconveniences. And he even finds time to visit the dentist in between kills. Circumstances almost too good to be true in the life of a serial killer.

A drug dealer and murderer known as Freebo is next on Dexter’s black list.  But it seems Dexter isn’t the only one with their sights set on killing this scot-free offender and he finds himself in yet another predicament.

In his attempt to eradicate Freebo, Dexter breaks Harry’s code when he accidentally kills Oscar Prado, the brother of Miami’s Assistant District Attorney Miguel Prado, in self defence.  Distraught and seeking to avenge his brother’s death, Miguel, played by the Golden Globe and Emmy-winning Jimmy Smits (NYPD Blue, West Wing), unsuspectingly confides in Dexter and grows to trust him.

Meanwhile, Rita’s hormones are raging and realises she is pregnant with Dexter’s baby.  In the homicide unit, Debra is desperately seeking approval from her superiors and is wary of her new partner Quinn, whilst Angel’s career is reaching new heights.

Forensic specialist and female enthusiast Masuka surprises us with a storyline that differs from his usual perverted vernacular.

Will a genuine friendship develop between Miguel Prado and Dexter?  With the prospect of fatherhood looming, does this mean an apprentice will be born? And how far will Deb go to excel in her career? Tune in Fridays at 10pm from April 24th to find out.

You won’t be disappointed.

The UK premiere of Dexter season three comes exclusively to FX tonight (Friday, April 24th) at 10pm
