This autumn, everyone’s favourite cartoon cat will be making his way back onto the big screen for his latest adventure.
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will be debuting in cinemas in October of this year (2022), and will not only be the second Puss in Boots movie, but it will be the first film to come from the Shrek universe in over 10 years.
We first met Puss in Boots (Antonio Banderas) in 2004, when Shrek’s (Michael Myers) wife’s father sends the feisty feline to kill the titular ogre. Puss and Shrek become fast friends, however, and this saw Puss become part of the gang.
Yesterday (March 15th, 2022), Universal Pictures revealed the trailer for Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, which sees Puss in Boots find out that his love for danger and flippancy about safety has caught up with him.
The lovable feline has raced through eight of his nine lives, although he lost count some time ago. Puss wants those lives back, and his desire will send him on his most thrilling adventure yet.
Puss must venture into the Black Forest in order to find the legendary Wishing Star and restore the lives he’s lost. However, with only one life left, Puss will have to humble himself and ask for help from former partner and current enemy, Kitty Soft Paws (Salma Hayek).
On their mission, the daring duo will be helped by a ridiculously joyful mutt, Perro (Harvey Guillén, What We Do in the Shadows), and must stay one (or two) paces in front of Goldilocks (Florence Pugh, Black Widow) and the Three Bears Crime Family, “Big” Jack Horner (John Mulaney, Big Mouth) and terrifying bounty hunter, The Big Bad Wolf (Wagner Moura, Narcos).
The movie also stars Olivia Colman (Broadchurch), Ray Winstone (Black Widow), Samson Kayo (Sliced), Anthony Mendez (Jane the Virgin) and Da'Vine Joy Randolph (Trolls World Tour).
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish will be in cinemas on October 21st, 2022.
