We all know that Disney have brought us some exceptional, heart-warming and beautiful films over the years, but upcoming film Encanto might just stand a little taller than the rest.
Encanto tells the wonderful tale of a very special family, the Madrigals, who live in the mountains of Columbia in a magical house, in a town where everyone has an amazing gift; from shapeshifting to talking to animals.
Mirabel, played by Brooklyn 99 actress Stephanie Beatriz, is a 15-year-old girl who struggles to be the only one in the town of Encanto without a special gift. Beatriz has said that, “Mirabel is a really funny, loving character who also deeply yearns for something more.
“She’s also not afraid to stand up for what she knows is right” continues the actress, “something I love and relate to very much.”
However, as Mirabel continues to live in Encanto, whose magic has blessed everyone except her with amazing abilities, something lurks around the vibrant town and it seems that Mirabel is the key to keeping her amazing family safe.
When the young girl discovers that the magic surrounding her beautiful home is in danger, she realises that she, the seemingly normal member of the Madrigal family, may be her family’s last hope.
The trailer shows a stunning array of characters, from a woman with super strength, to children with magical abilities; we see the breath-taking town of Encanto, lit up with flowers, rainbows and the powers of its residents.
The delightful trailer reveals many of Encanto’s inhabitants, and it is so uplifting and cheerful to see people with differing abilities and appearances get along, and enjoy each other’s gifts.
Mirabel definitely stands out, and as we know from Disney, this is never a bad thing. While the character feels out of place due to her lack of a special gift, she still appears to be a wonderful and charming character.
Encanto shows that everyone is perfect in their own right, whether you stand out from the crowd or not; Disney has always put some beautiful messages into their movies, and this one, of course, is no different as Beatriz’s character is a wonderful and positive person who has already brightened our day.
Joining Beatriz, the voice cast also includes María Cecilia Botero, Wilmer Valderrama, Adassa, Diane Guerrero, Mauro Castillo, Angie Cepeda, Jessica Darrow, Rhenzy Feliz and Carolina Gaitan.
The upcoming feature includes brand-new songs by Lin-Manuel Miranda (Hamilton), and is directed by Byron Howard (Zootropolis, Tangled) and co-director Jared Bush Zootropolis co-director).
Encanto is set to be an outstanding film, and will be in cinemas November 26th, 2021!
