Richard Gere

Richard Gere

Richard Gere has no plans to retire for acting just yet.

The sixty year old actor has enjoyed a career that has spanned over thirty years and seen him move from romantic roles such as Pretty Woman, crime drama such as Primal Fear and musicals in the form of Chicago.

He tells Splash: "When I look back through my career, I see that I've done all these different kinds of movies, which I like.

"But there's still quite a few that I haven't done, so maybe I'll get a shot at them before I die. It's the violent ones that I probably have no interest in whatsoever."

"Even a film like The Jackal - in which I was happy with my work - it had gone over the violent edge for me and I probably wouldn't do another movie like that again. It was too violent."

And the actor is back on the big screen this week with Hachiko: A Dog's Story,  remake of the 1987 Japanese film Hachiko Monogatari.

It's the first film since Amelia last year but Gere also has Brooklyn's Finest on the horizon, which opened at number two at the U.S. box office this week.
