Kenny Wormald has revealed that the remake of Footloose doesn't stray too far away from the popular original.

The actor takes over the role of Ren McCormack in the Craig Brewer directed movie - that also stars Dennis Quaid and Andie McDowell.

Speaking to MSN Movies at the Los Angeles premiere the actor said: "We didn't stray too far away, we're all huge fans of the original, we didn't want to mess up," he said at the movie's Los Angeles premiere.

And while the movie does remain close the original the actor admits that the story has been slightly updated for a new generation.

"It is updated for today's generation and the relationships in the film are explained a bit more, and some of the plot is a bit different. But it's definitely true to the original."

Footloose is the first movie role for the actor since Center Stage: Turn It Up back in 2008 and it is set to be the biggest role of his career to date.

Footloose is released 14th October.
