Anthony Hopkins has revealed that his heavy costume for blockbuster movie Thor was a struggle to work.

The Oscar winner teams up with director Kenneth Branagh and leading man Chris Hemsworth to bring the latest marvel comic hero to the big screen this summer.

And while Hopkins was impressed his costume he admits that the weight of it did make life difficult.

Speaking to Collider the actor said: "It's a bit difficult to move around because they had steep steps - that was quite tiring because it's about twenty-five to thirty pounds you're carrying around with you all day and you can't really take much of a rest.

"I saw the designs of the sets and what I was going to wear when I went down to the studio down at Manhattan Beach. I saw what they were going to put on me and all that and I thought, 'Oh wow'.

"So when they dressed me up I thought, 'Well OK, I'm a god now..."

Hopkins takes on the role of Odin in the movie, which also stars Natalie Portman, Idris Elba and Stellan Skarsgard.

But before that the actor is set to star in The Rite as well as having The Song of Names and 360 in the pipeline.

Thor is released 29th April
