3D and CGI animation rules the box office today with Disney's work with the new giant Pixar to produce the likes of Toy Story and so on.
But most of us will have grown up with 2D animated pictures and fell in love with the character of Aladdin and The Lion King, as well as knowing all the words to all of the songs.
Yes no matter what cinema churns out these days those old Disney movies, in my humble opinion, remain the best.
And Disney returns to it's roots this week for The Princess and the Frog which sees 2D and the all singing all dancing storyline returns... hooray!
And there are some experienced hands working on this project as the movie is written and directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, creators of classics such as The Little Mermaid and Aladdin.
A modern day retelling of the classic story The Frog Prince. The Princess and the Frog finds the lives of arrogant, carefree Prince Naveen and hardworking waitress Tiana crossing paths.
Prince Naveen is transformed into a frog by a conniving voodoo magician and Tiana, following suit, upon kissing the amphibian royalty.
With the help of a trumpet-playing alligator, a Cajun firefly, and an old blind lady who lives in a boat in a tree, Naveen and Tiana must race to break the spell and fulfil their dreams.
The Princess and the Frog is 49th animated feature in the Walt Disney Animated Classics line, and the first of these films to be traditionally (2D) animated since 2004's Home on the Range.
Since then Disney have released the likes of Bolt and Chicken Little but they were CGI animated movies.
The movie is also ground breaking for the studio as the central character of Tiana isDisney's first African-American princess.
But returning to the more traditional way of animating movies seems to have paid off with the film bagging a Best Animated Movie Oscar nomination earlier this week.
It was a good week all around for Disney as Up also found itself in the Best Animated Movie mix. But the Pixar/Disney film came just the second animated film to scoop a Best Picture nomination after Beauty and the Beast in 1991.
But movie lovers haven't been put off by the format of this new Disney movie as it went on to top the U.S. box office, it seems that we all want to take a little walk down memory lane!
But it might be the last 2D animated Disney movie we see for a while as Rapunzel will be a CGI driven movie.
The Princess and the Frog is released 5th February
