The 68-year-old star explained that on his days off, he has a ritual that lasts around 90 minutes but if he is needed on set then he still manage to fit in up to "200 bicycle kicks" and the plank, as he compared himself to his late 'Strictly Come Dancing' co-star Bruce Forsyth.

He told The Sun newspaper's TVBiz column: "I have my system that works for my body, because I know how it works. When I am not working, I do about an hour-and-a-half session every day, a mixture of resistance, stretching and yoga. When I’m working, every day I do some leg exercises, about 200 bicycle kicks, on the floor. The plank, the cobra and downward dog.

“Brucie was doing stuff like this into his eighties. He looked incredible, you have to do what works for you.”

The dancer spent 15 years as a judge on 'Strictly' but in recent years has been searching for an act to take to the stage at the Royal Variety through 'Britain's Got Talent' and explained following the launch of the latest series that he was just looking for "something new" after joining Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon on the ITV1 panel.

He said: "I spent 15 years of my life there. I’m still doing the American one and I’m very passionate about it but sometimes you have to try something new.”

Bruno recently joked that he had been "unleashed" with his role on the diverse talent show.

He said: "In a way the role I played in 'Strictly' is different from what I do here.

"I’m so grateful to BGT for allowing me to show more of myself.

"I’m Bruno unleashed now, darling! I can use all my range, it’s exciting."
