I have been wanting to visit Australia since forever, the laid back atmosphere and stunning scenery has had me an awe for years, not to mention the cute Koalas and Kangaroo tales!

So back in December the hubby and I ventured out on an epic three week road trip down the East Coast of Australia from Cairns to Sydney.

Cairns was the first stop on our road map and the start of our 30 hours on the road down to Sydney. A famous location for exploring The Great Barrier Reef, from here you can see the world’s wonder from the sky or the ocean. With just a few days in the area we decided to opt for both ;)

We booked a private helicopter which not only gave us an amazing ariel view of The Great Barrier Reef it also landed for half a day on a secluded sandbank in the middle of the Pacific, it was magical!

From Cairns we drove down to Airlie Beach, here we decided to see The Great Barrier Reef one more time, on this occasion 16,000 feet above it, by jumping out of a plane!

From Airlie beach we sailed out to the fabulous WhitSunday Islands for 3 days and 2 nights, snorkelling daily in the stunning waters and visiting one of the most picturesque beaches in the entire world, Whitehaven Beach.

After a few days at sea we then headed further down south to Fraser Island, one of Australia’s natural gems, it’s the largest sand island in the world boasting champagne rock pools, fresh water lakes, fabulous beaches and jaw-dropping sunsets. We rented a 4 wheel drive to explore which was a experience in itself driving in the sand but one I would highly recommend! Camping overnight, slumbering beneath a blanket of stars, Fraser Island was an unmatchable experience.

After Fraser Island we headed down to Noosa, one of my new favourite places. A luxury beach town with a surfer’s mindset. Here we enjoyed relaxed days at the beach, shopped til we dropped in Hastings street and marvelled at the wild koalas chilling in the many eucalyptus trees in the National Park.

After a few days at Noosa we headed down to Brisbane where we visited the Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary and this time actually held the native cuties!

From Brisbane we headed down to Byron Bay where we spent our days surfing, going for drinks with friends and enjoying the chilled vibes of the main town.

Then it was time to head back to Sydney. We were only in the capital city for two days so we made the most of it by staying at The stunning Shangri-La Hotel where our room had the most incredible view of the Sydney Opera House and an amazing rooftop bar!

During the days we hit the famous Bondi Beach and Icebergs Pool spa swim and surf. Sydney is a great city, such a perfect mix of city chic and coastal wanderlust.

From Sydney we flew home with our incredible memories and a thirst to head straight back out to Australia ;)

Until next time, Sabrina x
