It’s the oldest cliché in the book, but if you want the girl of your dreams then you have to know how to make her laugh!

Oh, and it doesn’t hurt to have Brad Pitt’s chest, Justin Timberlake’s bum, Daniel Craig’s shoulders and Johnny Wilkinson’s legs while being prepared to bring her chocolate as she soaks in a hot bath at the end of a busy day, take her away for a holiday sunbathing on a tropical island and have facial hair rather than a shaved head!

A recent poll conducted by You Gov, as part of the new Kinder Bueno’s “A little bit of what you fancy” digital campaign, found that while fashions change and celebrities come and go, most women still go for men who can make them laugh.

Asked which characteristics the ladies most fancy in a man, every age group from 18-24 through to 55+ put a funny personality top of the list with more than three-quarters (77%) of the survey choosing it.

Next came a cheeky smile (56%) followed by sparkly eyes while wealth lagged a long way behind (24%), beaten even by a toned body (27%) as a turn-on for the fairer sex.

Even more surprisingly, 84 percent of 18-24 year-old women put a funny personality first, higher than practically all the older groups.

Brad Pitt’s torso is a must-have for most in the 18-24 group (46%), but there was bad news for Jonny Wilkinson’s famous legs with only 24 percent of girls opting for this. Becks didn’t fair to well either with only eight per cent of 18-24 year-olds opting for David Beckham’s face, the same percentage that found Tom Cruise’s arms a turn-on!

Nearly one in five (18%) of the 18-24 age group admitted to spending more than an hour daydreaming about what they fancy and it is no surprise to learn that more than one in three (32%) daydream about their love life.

Most of this age group would rather have Lily Allen’s lifestyle than Victoria Beckhams (25% compared to 23%), and Kelly Brook’s curves (45%) and Jennifer Aniston’s hair (42%) than Nadine Coyle’s legs (28%) or Angelina Jolie’s lips (18%) and even Kylie’s bum (32%).

Television and radio personalities take a battering in the survey, topping this list was Gordon Ramsay, with only 18 per cent of 18-24 age group voting him as the one they secretly fancy. Next was Simon Cowell at 14 per cent and Louis Theroux at 11 per cent.

Television chat show host Judy Finnegan can relax as husband Richard Madeley drew a big fat zero in this age group.

Jodi Albert, who is heading up the digital campaign for Kinder Bueno knows only too well how important it is to treat yourself to a little bit of what you fancy, “A hot bubble bath is definitely my little fancy. It’s even better when I’m joined by my funny boyfriend,” she said.
