A recent study has revealed that men want more couple's time and are particularly keen to spend it in a spa getting joint treatments. As we take a look at some of the things that couples can do together to unwind, the spa is a good place to start.

A meal out- Go for a meal out in a restaurant that you know isn't preoccupied as much with turnover and lets you eat your dinner at a leisurely pace. You can talk, put the world to rights and enjoy good company, food and drink at a speed that suits you.

Treatments- A couple's massage or an Indian head massage for instance- something you can do together if a whole spa day is just too much rest for your liking. You can have just an hour or two together to wind down doing something new.

Turn off your phones- For those love birds who lie at opposite ends of the couch or in bed on their phones for the majority of their couple time- this can be a big ask. However, it gives you the opportunity to engage with one another fully, not just in between texting or Facebook surfing. You can really listen to one another and will probably be more affectionate and attentive because you don't have the distraction of all your phone apps.

Take a bath together- Run a bath, light some candles, pour two glasses of wine, pop on some relaxing music, set aside some fresh towels and slide into the tub together. You can talk, enjoy some sexual play or simply lie in silence against each other's wet skin. Whatever your preference it's absolute bliss if you have been on your feet all day.

Take out- Order in and all you have to do is warm some plates, get a good DVD and bring the duvet from upstairs. Eat it slowly, gobble it up or just pick at it like a buffet then bundle it all up and throw away the packaging. Easy, simple- perfect.

Sunbathe- When the weather gets a little warmer- take a blanket out into your garden, a good book and some sun tan lotion and just lay next to one another. Soak up those rays; enjoy the peace of mind that the person you love is safe and next to you and that you have nothing scheduled for the rest of the day other than deciding what to have for dinner.

Leisurely stroll- Take a slow walk in the park or countryside, stop and get out a picnic, sit on a park bench or at a good stopping place and watch the world go by. The fresh air will help to dissolve your worries and focus on what's important- each other.

Go for a nap- Sometimes adults just need an hour in bed to recharge their batteries and with each other its pure bliss. Get under those covers, have a little chat beforehand and then fall carelessly into a well needed slumber.

Café- Find a local café that has those large, squishy seats in the back, order a coffee and a cake and talk till your heart's content. As long as you keep topped up with caffeine they will not throw you out and you can waste a whole afternoon just getting to know each other a little better.

Spa Day- Book one in to a nearby spa so you don't have the stress of driving too far from home- make full use of all the rooms and the space to talk. The slow pace will make you feel like yourselves again so your relationship will surely benefit.
