More than a third of women regularly fake orgasms, according to a new survey.

And 30 per cent admit they have faked it with EVERY partner they've ever had.

The average woman will have sex 99 times during the year - but on 34 occasions love making will end up with a whimper rather than a bang.

It means the average woman in a relationship can expect just 65 satisfying sessions between the sheets each year.

And it's even worse in Sheffield where the women are enduring the worst sex of all.

Clueless blokes are ensuring that lasses in the steel city can expect just 42 memorable nights of passion each year.

But girls are clearly great a faking, because around 90 per cent of females reckon their partners can't recognise the difference between fake orgasms and a real one.

The lack of satisfaction is having an impact, however. Just over 20 per cent of females insist that their interest in love making has tailed off as a result.

Almost the same number end up thinking about other men while having sex in a desperate bid to turn themselves on.

Over four million women have even dumped a lover because he could not perform, according to a study of 4,000 females conducted by OnePoll.

However, it is not all bad news for men who are failing to fulfil their partners.

Just over 80 per cent of married and single women admit they would rather be with a man who was a disaster between the sheets but was kind, considerate and caring than a sensational lover who showed little or no affection.

Around 15 per cent of women also believe that poor technique can be improved while lovers who show no tenderness are much harder to fix.

Almost one in five women are honest enough to accept that when they do fake orgasms, it's not always the blokes' fault.

Millions have other issues on their mind at bed time like kids, finances and work which mean they can't get in the mood for a good time.

They accept that by the time they do end up in bed they are either too tired or stressed to perform.

OnePoll spokesman John Sewell said: "Fellas really need to up their game because they are not performing between the sheets.

"According to our research, the key for blokes is simply to talk to their wives and girlfriends more, to take a little time finding out what makes them happy when they make love.

"In any other area of life if you want to improve you ask an expert and when it comes to pleasing a woman - they are the experts.

"Add in a little more romance, relaxation and thoughtfulness and men will soon see the rewards in a better love life."

But there are other issues that lead women to fake orgasms.

One in twenty are so self conscious about their body they can never get comfortable naked, even if they have been with their partner for years.

While one in ten refuse to tackle the issue by offering lovers advice and guidance on how to improve their performance.

They claim that discussing sex with their boyfriend or husband would be too embarrassing.

That's despite the fact that more than half of the women who have been honest with their partner say their love making improved as a result.

And while almost 25 per cent of men were hurt or angry when their wives or girlfriends revealed they are useless in the sack, 59 per cent welcomed the opportunity to make sex better.

According to OnePoll, good lovers have a great technique, they are considerate in bed and start turning their partner on long before they slip between the sheets.

Men who fail in the sex stakes want to make love too late at night, they rush foreplay or cut it too short and have no variation.
