After the cats are sedated by evil Edgar, his plans to dispose of them are scuppered when Duchess meets Thomas, who agrees to help the cat and her kittens escape to Paris.
Thomas is one of the most fascinating Disney characters around, with an uplifting personality and a great voice - provided by Phil Harris - which really adds to the tune he sings as an introduction in the film.
