There is just a week to go until The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies hits the big screen and it is the December movie that we are the most excited about here at FemaleFirst.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies

The Battle of the Five Armies is the third and final instalment of Peter Jackson's latest trilogy and will be the sixth time that we have ventured into Middle Earth with the Oscar winning director.

I have been counting down to this movie ever since the credits rolled on The Desolation of Smaug and now Warner Bros have released a terrific new batch of image to whet your appetite even further for the film. Martin Freeman, Ian McKellen, Richard Armitage, Orlando Bloom, and Evangeline Lilly are just some of the stars who feature in the great new pictures:

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies brings to an epic conclusion the adventures of Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield and the Company of Dwarves. Having reclaimed their homeland from the Dragon Smaug, the Company has unwittingly unleashed a deadly force into the world.

Enraged, Smaug rains his fiery wrath down upon the defenceless men, women and children of Lake-town. Obsessed above all else with his reclaimed treasure, Thorin sacrifices friendship and honour to hoard it as Bilbo's frantic attempts to make him see reason drive the Hobbit towards a desperate and dangerous choice.

But there are even greater dangers ahead. Unseen by any but the Wizard Gandalf, the great enemy Sauron has sent forth legions of Orcs in a stealth attack upon the Lonely Mountain.

As darkness converges on their escalating conflict, the races of Dwarves, Elves and Men must decide - unite or be destroyed. Bilbo finds himself fighting for his life and the lives of his friends in the epic Battle of the Five Armies, as the future of Middle-earth hangs in the balance.

The Hobbit has been another great trilogy from Jackson - which comes over a decade after we were taken to Middle Earth for the first time with The Lord of the Rings - and I can't wait to see what he delivers in what is set to be a bigger and darker final instalment.

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is released 12th December.
