Emma Watson has said that she is not in any way attached to the Fifty Shades of Grey adaptation.

The British actress is just one of a handful of stars that have been linked to the role of Anastasia Steele since it was announced that popular book was being made into a movie.

But Watson said that she has no idea where the rumours of her involvement have come from and she hasn’t even read the book.

Speaking at the London press conference for The Perks of Being A Wallflower the actress said: "I must have said this in twenty interviews now but I am not attached to it - I don’t know why this keeps on coming up over and over again.

"It is flattering in a sense that people are excited about what I am going to do in the future but I don’t know where this thing is coming from - it’s mental. I can’t seem to shake it.

"I haven’t read the book, I haven’t been sent a script, I haven’t been approached and that is all I can say."

Selena Gomez, Kristen Stewart and Amanda Seyfried are just some of the other names that have been tipped for the role but, as of yet, there has been no casting announcement.

Watson returns to the big screen this week in an adaptation her own as The Perks of Being A Wallflower sees her team up with Logan Lerman and Ezra Miller.
