To dream of someone shaking you suggests that a person in your waking hours is trying to get an important message across.

Perhaps you are not paying attention or noticing a change in them- try to be more aware of the people around you and the subtleties of what they are trying to tell you.

On the flip side, if you were the one shaking someone, it's possible you have been trying to get through to this person for a while now and they are struggling to listen or take your advice. If you have done all you can here, simply walk away. If they wish to ignore you, they may have to learn from their mistakes. Remember that your motivations are subjective and what is right for you might not be for them.

If the ground was shaking beneath your feet perhaps the foundations you have laid or relied upon for a while suddenly aren't as stable as you thought they were. It may be time to move elsewhere to get the steadiness you seek. On the other hand, if you weren’t fazed by the trembling ground, perhaps you are comfortable with things being shaken up a little. Do you feel something in your life needs some agitation? Perhaps new blood is needed in your professional life for example.

If you were shaking because of the cold, are you in the middle of an uncomfortable situation right now? If you were unprepared for the cold and wearing very little, perhaps you are struggling with this event and how it makes you feel.

On the other hand, if you were wearing adequate layers, you may be equipped to handle this discomfort for a while.

To shake with fear in a dream is mirroring your waking hours- what are you afraid of? Consider what or who else was in the dream with you for additional meaning. Is this fear irrational or do you need to do something about it if it’s debilitating?

To shake a rug indicates a need to cleanse your home of something that’s unwanted by all. Perhaps you are inundated with too many things and would benefit from a decluttering session or maybe there is some bad feeling between you and whoever else lives there that needs to be dealt with and disposed of.

Think of the phrase ‘shake it off’- what have you been clinging onto that you really need to let go of? It’s time to finally say goodbye or it will continue to hold you back in life.

Have you recently shaken something off such as an illness or a negative emotion and are feeling much better for it? If so, give yourself a pat on the back, especially if it has been a longstanding burden.

Another phrase to contemplate is ‘shake a leg’- you really need to get going with something that you’ve postponed for too long. You are well overdue- rouse yourself because no one else is going to do it for you.
