Shaz asks :

Hi Lucy,

I really wish I had a focus or a hobby but I have a problem in that I'm no good at anything. Sport, Board games, creative pursuits, learning languages, I've tried them all over the years and failed. I'm embarrassingly bad and I'm really stupid. The only thing I enjoy doing is watching television. I don't know what to do, I feel like I just exist and I really want to live. I don't know what to do.

Perhaps the issue is that you lack confidence in yourself and it makes you think that you are no good at anything when you are. If you believe that you are 'stupid' and 'bad' at most things then it may not give you the push to try something new if you resign yourself to failure before giving it a chance. It could be that you didn't stick long enough at the things you have tried?

If your passion is television, then maybe you could start a blog about your favourite TV show, research into a script writing course, or look into doing some voluntary work at a TV studio near you to blend your hobby with a sociable activity.

It might just be that nothing has captured your passions so far, but if you keep looking then you are more likely to find something that sparks your interest. The more people you meet along the way and new situations you try- hopefully the more your confidence will grow in yourself and your abilities in whatever you choose to pursue.
