It's World Vegan Day- a day for the curious meat eaters and vegetarians to consider switching to an entirely plant based diet. But what do existing vegans do to celebrate?

Tell at least one person about your lifestyle choice- It doesn't have to be in the form of a protest or in great detail- it could be as simple as telling someone you're vegan when you ask for soya milk at the coffee shop or posting a vegan recipe on your Facebook page. It may not inspire conversation- but there's always a chance it might. Someone on the fence could make the transition as a result of your openness around the subject.

Donate to a charity- There are plenty of causes out there that could benefit from a monetary gift. Your local animal shelter, a vegan or environmental organization- why not take your veganism a step further and help others to appreciate the lifestyle the way you do?

Become a member of a plant-based charity- Such charities strive to promote plant based living and with your help of a membership fee and support, they can spread the message even wider while keeping you up to date with their efforts.

Volunteer- Charities are always crying out for volunteers- so why not get in touch with your local animal rescue or vegan based charity and offer up your time from today?

Double check all your products are vegan AND cruelty free- Sometimes the two don't go hand in hand so it's always worth having another look through your cupboards for peace of mind.

Meet up with some fellow vegans- If you know some already- arrange to go out for a meal together or even to meet up for a drink and a chat with some like-minded people.

Join a local vegan group- There's bound to be a gathering of vegans in your area- if you don't have the support of those around you- it might be wise to seek out others who see things from your perspective.

Cook your friends or family a plant based meal- Something you love and are a dab hand at now- so you know it will be good and see if you can change their perceptions of vegan food.

Learn something new about veganism- Order a book, look online, search You Tube- even if you're a long time vegan- chances are you don't know everything so it might be worth brushing up on your current vegan affairs.

Subscribe to a vegan magazine- There are a few magazines out there that are focused on vegan living and eating. If you enjoy reading about all things vegan- this is one way you can keep up to date with what's going on, read inspiring stories of longstanding vegans or new vegans and experiment with new recipes.
