Many fathers across the world are preparing to celebrate Father's Day with their children and partners this Sunday- however some will receive gifts and be showered with love from children who are not theirs. AshleyMadison.com has found that 14.6% of members who are mothers are not 100% certain if one of their children belongs to their partner.
Of those who do know, 8.6% said their husband has no idea that one of the children he had fathered is not his. Furthermore, 6.2% receive financial support from the actual father of their child. For over half of women, it's their youngest who is the result of their affair.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, many fathers begin to seek affairs on or after Father's Day with the dating site finding a pattern of sign-ups the day after their celebrations with a 375% increase on June 22nd.
"With so many women having affairs, it's not a surprise that there are some dads out there unintentionally raising kids who aren't their own," says Noel Biderman, CEO and Founder of AshleyMadison.com. "If physical or emotional needs aren't being met at home, wives, as well as husbands, tend to take matters into their own hands to find satisfaction outside the marriage. Perhaps some of these duped fathers know on a subconscious level that the children they've helped to raise are not their own, but I suspect that many are blissfully unaware."
