Abandoned theatre found in African desert

An abandoned movie theatre has been discovered in the middle of Egypt's Sinai desert.

''I think most of the locals know about this place but because of the 'confusion' between this Frenchman, local government and Bedouins, it's a topic that's not really talked about.''

Photographer Kaupo Kikkas took pictures which show numerous chairs lined up in the sand dunes and he thinks it was built at the beginning of the millennium by a Frenchman.

Kikkas told Dazed magazine: ''Egypt is and was kind of a police state.

''In Sinai it's actually forbidden to go to the desert if you don't take a tour or organised trip.

''These tours and trips take you to all the same places and actually one route is just two miles away from the cinema.
