Today is National Lucky Penny Day so we reflect on the idiosyncrasies of partners who firmly believe that luck exists.

Relationships on Female First

Everything good or bad that happens- Is down to luck, not hard work, not mistakes, not determination, not talent or carelessness- luck. You have come to accept this as the norm.

When you're walking through the streets hand in hand- She keeps her eyes on the ground- looking for pennies- after all- 'See a penny, pick it up… all day long you'll have good luck .' These words haunt your dreams.

She has a four-leaf clover- Somewhere in your house and about her person- if she happens to lose it- the world may come to an end.

She always plays the lottery- Every week, with the same numbers- without fail. If she misses one due to extreme circumstances- you're not allowed to check and see if you could have won.

She avoids the number 13- You're not able to sit at this number table when you go to restaurants, or seat in the cinema or the theatre. You know to be mindful of this when you book anything for you've wasted your money in the past.

She loves to wish you (and other people) good luck- If you have an interview, an important day at work, or a meaningful conversation to have with someone, she always wishes you good luck. Because that's all you need for it to go well.

She's not into horses- But there's a horseshoe in her possession- because it's supposed to ward off evil spirits. You know to just go along with this now.

She always forwards on chain letters- Because if she doesn't she thinks bad things will happen to her and all those she loves. You don't believe but you appreciate that she cares enough about you to send it on.

If she spills salt- She always throws some over her shoulder, you've learned the hard way not to sit to the left of her when you settle at your even numbered table on date night.

When a bird poops on her head- It's a bittersweet time because she has poo on her head (ewwwww)- but good luck is on its way!
