Select your ingredients carefully: Check out their profile and do a bit of background research on them- are they compatible with you? Take the time to choose carefully so you don't end up wasting your time.

Mix it up: Although compatibility is key; also try to look for someone a little out of your comfort zone. If you always go after a muscle man- try someone a little less toned. If you are a sucker for a man in a suit go for one who work in the outdoors. You never know you might like it!

Turn up the heat: Be flirty but not too obvious- there is a lot of power in playful suggestion to increase the sexual chemistry between you and a guy!

Add a little sugar: Notice things about your date you like and tell them, it goes a long way! The more specific you are the better; so not just 'you're very handsome' but 'you have lovely blue eyes'.

Experiment: Try to mix up the venues a little- the same place can become a bit of a comfort and boring so choose different locations to keep things fresh and so you have different things to talk about.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again: Everyone has had a bad date- people will continue to- try to see it as a good excuse for a catch up with a friend and subject for a bit of laughter.

Get stuck in: Once you get used to dating, you will wonder what you were ever worried about- you are all in the same boat- so try not to let nerves get the better of you as they can become infectious and put you and your date at ease!
