In 1990s, Watts was romantically involved with director Stephen Hopkins and then actor Heath Ledger, from August 2002 to May 2004. They broke up just four years before he died.
Only two years later Watts met her now husband, actor, Liev Schreiber for the second time when they co-starred in the film The Painted Veil together. Their first encounter was actually at a ball back in 2005.
When she was interviewed in January 2009 she revealed that Schreiber had given her a ring, however she was not wearing it as neither of them wanted to hurry the marriage along.
In 2007, Schreiber called Watts his wife at Tropfest, which he later said was a way to confuse the media, as he is known for his practical jokes.
The couple’s first public appearance together was at the US premiere of King Kong.
Their son, Alexander Pete was born on July 2007 in Los Angeles. The couple’s second son was born in December 2008 in New York City, named Samuel Kai. In 2010, Watts revealed that she would like to have a third child, as she would love a daughter.
