The Olympics had the whole nation gripped, not only by the sports themselves, but by all the amazing bodies on show.
Matchmaking service MutualAttraction.co.uk, surveyed its users to find that 96 per cent of singles admire the bodies of Jessica Ennis and Team GB gymnast Louis Smith.
Due to all the eye candy on show, 64 per cent of Brits have decided to change their ‘type’ and are now looking for a lover with a more athletic build.
A spokesman for MutualAttraction.co.uk said, “All our members fill out a questionnaire which lets us find out more about them and the type of partner they are looking for.
“In the past only around 20% of women and around 10% of men said they were seeking an athletic type build but we noticed this shoot right up during the Olympics. Now a majority of new members, both male and female, are specifying an athletic build.”
Cyclists Chris Hoy and Mark Cavendish, gymnast Louis Smith, runner Adam Gemili, gold medal winning sailor Ben Ainslie and US swimmer Michael Phelps were seen to be the main objects of women’s desires during the Olympics.
One female respondent said, “I’ve had a fabulous time watching the Olympics, not least for the quality of eye candy on offer.
“I’ve always found sport a bit boring and have never sought an athletic partner. Until now I always thought a good personality and sense of humour was more important but the Olympics has made me have second thoughts.
As well as taking in the bodies of the athletes, 44 per cent of participants have said the games inspired them to improve their body.
The female respondent said, “I also thought that muscles on women weren’t a good look but I thought Jessica Ennis had an incredible body. I’ve now joined a gym and am hoping not only to tone up but also to find my ideal man. Someone like runner Adam Gemili would be perfect.”
Team GB cyclists Laura Trott and Victoria Pendleton, athlete Jessica Ennis and Taewondo gold medallist Jade Jones were all named as ideal women by some of the survey’s male respondents.
A male respondent to the survey said, “I’ve always gone for curvy girls but now my ideal is less page 3 and more Jess Ennis.”
