After the restaurants success in Thailand, Cabbages and Condoms has now opened its doors in the UK with its first restaurant opening in Oxford.

Instead of being offered a mint after your meal, as you normally would be, instead you’ll get a leaflet about sexual health and family planning.

As if that wasn’t enough, you’ll also be encouraged to buy some of their themed merchandise too! Among them are condom-themed mugs, keyrings and books and even a mascot made out of the contraceptive.

The idea is promote sexual wellbeing and the name Cabbages and Condoms came to light as they feel condoms should be bought rather like mundane items such as cabbages – something you buy as part of your shopping routine.

The idea was brought about in Thailand where they would even distribute condoms at the end of the meal.

It’s all in order to prevent the spread of STIs and encourage people to have safe sex and the proceeds from any merchandise purchased goes to charity.

It’s not just the cause that’s all good, the food goes down a treat too with Marian Burross from The New York Times giving it a raving review.

All the profits from the merchandise in the new restaurant in Oxford will be donated to charitable causes in Thailand.
