He rushes through your evening meal: Your romantic evening out is ruined by constant watch checking and drumming on the table to show his sheer impatience at having to wait for his dessert and he gives you the evils if you order coffee.

He leaves a family do early: He asks if someone can give you a lift back home or sits there all night in utter misery as he counts down the time until he can leave. Dreaming of getting a chilled beer out the fridge and eating the left-overs from last night’s tea in peace.

He is constantly checking the app on this phone: The silver lining is he is not having an affair with another woman, but having a conversation is like trying to talk to a brick wall when the app is open.

He dips in and out of bars when you are having a couple’s day: Shopping or walking along the river, you find him veering towards bars and pubs that might have a TV in there because his phone has lost reception.

He suddenly arranges tea out at the pub: You think he’s finally got the message that you never go out or do anything as a couple anymore, but when he insists that you sit with your back to the TV, you know for sure that he is going to have his 'pretending to listen' face on all night long.

He passes up sex for a match: You go downstairs in some sexy lingerie and tell him that you will let him do anything to you that he wants and he dismisses you like you've rocked on up in dirty PJs and yesterday's mascara.

He spends the whole weekend after a match in a slump: He is miserable for all of your quality weekend time together and the only conversation he will engage in is with fellow supporters wallowing in their own grief.

He sweetens you up: You get flowers, take aways, your favourite boxsets, money to go out with your friends, the offer of a lift home afterwards- all to get you out of his hair or so you won’t feel as bad when he asks you if he can take over the living room for 90 minutes.
