Today is National Splurge Day- a day for indulging in some luxury and pleasure and doing something special for yourself. As it’s a Monday, there isn’t a lot you can do during office hours but here are a few ways to give yourself that little boost in between meetings and once you’ve clocked off.

Treat yourself to lunch- If you always bring in your own lunch- why not leave the office and buy yourself something ready made for once? Or better yet, go out for lunch with your workmates.

Get a take-out coffee- Rather than using the facilities closest to you- why not go and get a large cup of something with extra cream or chocolate sprinkles? Whatever floats your boat!

Pop to the shops after work- Go to your nearest late-night opening shopping centre and buy yourself something you’ve been eyeing up for a while. Or, simply take a look around and purchase something that catches your eye (as long as it doesn’t break the bank).

Have your evening meal out- Rather than going home and cooking yourself- why not make plans to eat out with a lover, friends, family or your closest work colleagues? Or if you don’t feel like leaving the house- order a take away.

Click ‘buy’ on that item in your shopping basket- We all have things pending in our online carts that we want but haven’t got around to buying yet. As long as its within budget- press that magic button and wait the postman’s knock!

Book some time off work- You may not have today off but there’s nothing stopping you from booking off some days in the near future, so you have something to look forward to in your diary.

Call and make an appointment at your local salon- Are you in need of a massage? Do you really need your legs waxed for the summer? Fancy getting your nails done? If so- give them a call and see if they can fit you in tonight.

Go for an impromptu cinema trip- Check out what films are on right now and pick one you like the look of. Drop your bestie, partner or family member a text and ask them if they’d like to go with you.

Take the night off- If you had planned to do a bit of cleaning, catch up on some work or throw in some washing- leave it for another day and have some ‘me time’. Read that book, have a long bubble bath, binge watch your favourite programme or ask someone to babysit for you so you can enjoy some couple time.

Make a splurge list- If you have a few things you’d like to splurge on, but money won’t allow for such extravagances at present- make a splurge list. Write down everything you’d like to do and plan in when you will be able to afford to do so- a full calendar is a happy calendar.

Happy National Splurge Day folks- spend it well!
