Railway workers in Essex alerted the emergency services after spotting a pair of bare feet showing ''no signs of life''.

The British Transport Police (BTP) have taken to social media to urge the public not to sunbathe on the railway lines following the mishap.

BTP Essex tweeted: ''Yesterday we had a call about a body within the railway boundary.

''Railway workers could only see a pair of feet but reported no signs of life.

''Rushing to the scene officers found a man in his late 30s enjoying some nude sunbathing.

''Please don't sunbathe nude on the railway!''

It follows a similar incident in New Zealand, when emergency services were scrambled to attend a body in a road - only to find out that it was a mannequin.
