Pals Lee Gaudoin, 31, and Neil Edwards-Cecil, 40, were visiting an outlet of the burger chain after attending a 40th birthday party in Chester, England, when they spotted the animal had wondered into the takeaway establishment.

The pair helped the duck leave the fast-food eatery, however, they soon started rowing about who was responsible for the heroic duck hunt which led to police being called by staff.

When officers arrived at the McDonald's they found Gaudoin swearing and loudly insisting that ''he had saved a duck''.

Gaudoin later told magistrates he ''didn't know'' how the argument had ''escalated'' after saving the feathered creature.
