Man drives 300 miles to cheat the law and stock up on cheap cider

Craig, 29, was gutted after the cheap booze ban in Scotland caused the prices of his beloved drink to soar, so he drove from his home in Glasgow to stock up on the Hawksbridge Dark Fruit Cider at Asda in Carlisle, North England.

The boozy beverage had jumped from £2.15 for a two-litre bottle to £5.75, following the introduction of the controversial legislation which stated a 50p minimum price per unit must be in place.

He told The Sun: ''It was more of a 'get it up ye' to be honest.

''They can't take our alcohol off us. I just got over the border and typed 'Asda' into my phone.

''My mate Peter has said not to worry about room to keep it - I can plonk it in his garage.''

Craig spent £100 and saved £180 when bulk-buying the bottles of cider.
