Today is National Reach as High as You Can Day. A day for focusing on your dreams and achieving your goals because there is no reason stop pursuing them. Reach out for them and don't be complacent- here we look at the ways in which your partner helps you to do this.

How does your partner help you to get there?

How does your partner help you to get there?

They encourage you when you embark on something new- If you have any doubt about your ability to do a new job, a course, a hobby or have an important conversation- they will always have your back and tell you that you can do it if you put your mind to it.

They tell you that you're too good for people/ places- If you're being taken for granted by a friend, family member or at work- they will let you know about it. You already know it but when they say it out loud you realise it's obvious to those around you too.

They lift you up when you're down- If you get a setback, they help you see it as an opportunity to work harder or take another path that is better suited to you. They assure you it will only make you stronger not weaker- even if that's how you feel in the moment.

They make you laugh at your silly mistakes- If you make a really bad meal, say something cringe worthy or let your clumsiness get the better of you- they laugh at it with you. They don't ever make you feel bad for your idiosyncrasies- they see it as endearing not off-putting.

They help you to focus- They ask you questions about where you are at now and where you want to be so you can work out the stages you need to strive for in order reach your goal.

They join in- They will set goals with you and encourage you to create joint goals with them so you can work as a team and support each other along the way.

They help you in any way they can- With job applications, money, CVs, proof reading, forms, revision, pep talks, lists- anything you need to get to your desired destination.

They will give you a reality check- If what you're doing will only prolong the time it takes to reach your dream- they will give you a little nudge in the right direction.

They publicly praise you- The effort you're putting in has not gone unnoticed by your partner but everyone else might not realise what you're sacrificing. Your partner tells everyone and anyone what you've achieved already because they are proud of you.

They celebrate with you- When you finally get there- they are the first to congratulate you and tell you they never doubted you for a second.
