You can’t snuggle at night- They get too hot if you press your body up against theirs. They like to sleep with space to chuck the blankets off when they please and get up for a cooling glass of water when their body temperature reaches menopausal flush levels.

You have to have sex in stages- They get hot really quickly when they’re exerting themselves in bed with you so they need to take regular breaks before it can recommence. It’s a mood killer but you fear they might burst into flames if you don’t oblige.

They like the idea of a holiday in the sun- But the reality is- when you get there- they prefer to sit in the shade for most of your break and find things to do that are indoors just so they can get a blast of air con.

If you do book to go abroad- Air conditioning in the room is non-negotiable- if the room doesn’t have it- they aren’t going. Their night sweats are far from attractive.

They are the only person you know who complains when it’s summer in Britain- They don’t like it when it rains but when it’s sunny- they moan about that too. There is no pleasing them.

You can’t enjoy sitting out in the garden together- Well you can- but not for long- within ten minutes they are back inside because they can’t bare being too hot.

You know when they’ve caught the sun- They go a beetroot colour and burn- there is no tan to be had- just peeling skin and a shed load of extra freckles.

If you return home on a sunny day- You are more likely to find them in the house, with the curtains shut and the fan on than enjoying the natural breeze outside. The odd rustle of the trees is not enough to satisfy their need for a cool blast.

During the summer months- They often look like some sort of failed superhero- they sport big rings around where their glasses have been while trying to hide their eyes from the sun.
