The insist on stocking up- You accompany them to the supermarket as soon as they have their first scare to buy an insane amount of food so that if you're snowed in- you won’t go hungry.

They watch EVERY weather report- And keep track of the changes via Facebook and their news app. It’s like having your very own weather woman when the flakes begin to fall.

They’re scared to drive- If you can drive them somewhere they jump at the chance but they make the worst passenger so you’d rather now bother and stay indoors.

They rise super early- To survey the damage. Is there enough to warrant a snow day? If not- they leave time to scrape off the car and set off far earlier than normal to drive as slow as they possibly. You can’t be too careful.

They avoid the motorways at all costs- And find alternative a road routes instead so they can drive at a snail’s pace. See previous point.

They send you regular pictures- If it does snow- your phone is a never-ending series of beeps as they snap the size and regularity of the snowflakes and update you on whether it’s sticking or not.

They are most at ease when it snows at the weekend- If you have nowhere to go and nothing to do- they don’t mind looking out at the mesmerising sight of snowflakes while tucked up under a blanket with the fire on. They novelty wears off however if it hasn’t melted by Sunday night.

The only way they will leave the house is on foot- If you have forgotten something- they are quite happy to pop to the local shop as long as they are wrapped up warm- but if your store is driving distance- the answer is NO.

They moan when it comes too late- Even though they hate the stuff with a passion- they maintain that a light dusting would have been very festive on Christmas Day, but alas, it has arrived in January when they aren’t feeling shiny OR happy.

They insist on layers- The first sign or anything falling from the sky, they lay out extra blankets on the bed, they pump up the heating and the thickest of all their winter clothes are ready to go.
