He dated artist Anna James, however has remained unattached since he broke it off with her. They made their first public appearance at the premiere of Tinker Tailor, Solider Spy at the 68th Venice International Film Festival in September 2011.
When he was interviewed by GQ in September 2013, it was confirmed the Cumberbatch was in fact still single and said, ‘I love her, adore her, always will.’
